In these official contest rules (the “Official Rules”), “you” or “your” or “entrant” means the person who has entered the Petro Canada Jack Link’s Campground Contest (the “Contest”).  By entering this Contest, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions contained in these Official Rules. The Contest is governed by these Official Rules and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, municipal, territorial and local laws and regulations.

Sponsor and Administrator: The sponsor of this Contest is LSI Enterprises Canada ULC for its brand Jack Link’s (“Contest Sponsor”). Second Dimension International Limited, dba Midnight Circus is the administrator of the Contest (“Administrator”).

Eligibility: The Contest is only open to individuals who: (a) have reached the age of majority in their province/territory of residence on the date of their entry; (b) are Canadian residents; and (c) are in compliance at all times with these Official Rules during the Contest.  Each entrant meeting all these criteria will be referred to as an “Eligible Entrant”.  Employees of Contest Sponsor, Petro Canada, and Administrator, and their respective subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, and the immediate family members (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses) of, and/or those living in the same household of each, are not eligible to enter.

Contest Period and Entry: Entries will be accepted during the Contest Period, which begins on May 14, 2024 at 12:00:01 am EDT, and ends on August 19, 2024 at 11:59:59 pm EDT. No purchase is necessary to win any Prize (as defined below). Maximum one entry per Eligible Entrant, regardless of entry method. Eligible Entrants may submit an entry for the Contest by:

  1. going to jacklinks.ca/campgroundpetrocanada webpage and submitting all required information.  Although it is free to enter the Contest, if you enter using a mobile device, message and data charges may be incurred. You are responsible for any fees associated with internet access, device usage charges, or any other charges incurred in connection with your entry. Use of any robotic, automatic, programmed, or similar unauthorized entry method, or entering more than once, will void all entries submitted by the Eligible Entrant and result in disqualification. The Contest Sponsor is entitled to determine in its sole discretion whether any such unauthorized entry methods were used. In no event will any technical failure on the part of any party resulting in the Administrator not receiving the electronic entry create liability on the Administrator or the Contest Sponsor; or
  • sending by mail a hand-written, original (not mechanically reproduced) and distinctly worded, one-hundred (100) word or more description of why the Eligible Entrant loves the outdoors, to: Petro Canada 2024 Jack Link’s Campground Contest, 202-175 Galaxy Blvd, Toronto, Ontario, M9W 0C9. Entries must be postmarked on or after May 14, 2024, and no later than August 15, 2024 and must be received by Administrator by August 19, 2019. In no event will any delay in the delivery of such item by any postal service to Administrator create liability on the Administrator or the Contest Sponsor, nor will Administrator be required to include such entry in the random draw.

Agreement to Official Rules: By submitting an entry, the Eligible Entrant agrees to be fully and unconditionally bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Contest Sponsor and Administrator.  Eligible Entrant represents and warrants that he or she meets the eligibility requirements set forth herein.  In addition, Eligible Entrant agrees to accept the decisions of Contest Sponsor as final and binding as they relate to the content and Contest.  The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial, municipal, territorial and local laws, regulations, and rules.  Persons submitting incomplete entries or entries under false pretenses will be disqualified.  Contest Sponsor and Administrator reserve the right to verify the eligibility qualifications of any winner, and to disqualify any entry that they believe in their sole and absolute discretion fail to satisfy these Official Rules or violate the spirit of this Contest.

Prizes: There is one (1) Prize available to be won during the Contest Period.  The selected Eligible Entrant, who has complied with all of the requirements of these Official Rules, as determined by the Contest Sponsor and/or Administrator, will be deemed to be the Prize winner.

The approximate retail value of the Prizes is C$8000.

The Prize includes the following*:

  • A two (2) night stay at the Jack Link’s Campground – located at Chute Lake Lodge in BC from September 13, 2024, to September 15, 2024. Accommodations will consist of “Glamping Tents” or Yurts provided by the Chute Lake Lodge.
  • Ground travel if Eligible Entrant lives in British Columbia or air travel and to and from the closest major airport and shuttle services to Chute Lake Lodge.
  • Food and beverage during the Eligible Entrant’s stay.
  • Outdoor group activities and lessons planned and curated by Jack Link’s.
  • Gifting from Jack Link’s, including branded items and Jack Link’s products.

*Contest Sponsor and Administrator are entitled to select and alter the above elements of the Prize in their sole and absolute discretion, and may substitute any of the aforementioned items with an items of similar value. The Jack Link’s Campground may also be enjoyed by other guests simultaneously with the Prize winners. Economy air travel will be provided to all winners excluding residents of British Columbia, provided that transportation to the airport designated by Contest Sponsor upon departure by winner, and from the airport designated by Contest Sponsor upon return by winner, will be at the sole cost of winner. British Columbia residents will be provided a VISA gift card to reimburse their driving expenses to and from the Jack Link’s Campground at the rate of $1/1 kilometer, up to a maximum of $500.

Awarding of Prize:  The specifics and exact parameters of the Prize shall be solely determined by the Contest Sponsor, and they may be altered from time to time. No cash or other prize substitution is permitted for the Prize, except in Contest Sponsor’s sole discretion. Contest Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value at any time, including after the selection of any winner. The Prize is non-transferable. Any and all Prize-related expenses, including without limitation, any and all taxes on the Prize, shall be the sole responsibility of the winner. Acceptance of a the Prize constitutes the winner providing its permission to Contest Sponsor and Petro Canada to use winner’s name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation of any kind to winner, unless prohibited by law.

In order to win the Prize, the selected Eligible Entrant must correctly answer the below time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question to be administered by telephone by the Contest Sponsor’s or Administrator’s representative, and he or she will be required to sign and return Contest Sponsor’s Declaration and Release form confirming compliance with the Official Rules and the eligibility requirements herein, acceptance of the Prize as awarded, and releasing Contest Sponsor and Administrator (and related parties) from all liability resulting from his or her participation in the Contest and the awarding of the Prize. The skill-testing question is as follows: 10 x 5 – 25 + 150.

No substitution for, or transfer of, the Prize, will be allowed. The selected Eligible Entrant will have two (2) business days to return the Declaration and Release form upon it being sent by the Contest Sponsor and/or Administrator representative.  If the selected Eligible Entrant does not do so within the aforementioned specified timeframe, another Eligible Entrant will be randomly selected for the Prize and the initially selected Eligible Entrant will be disqualified, his/her right to the Prize will be forfeited, and that selected Eligible Entrant will have no recourse whatsoever towards Contest Sponsor, Administrator, or any other related party.

ANY VIOLATION OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES BY ANY WINNER (AS DETERMINED AT CONTEST SPONSOR’S SOLE DISCRETION), OR ANY VIOLATION OF A FEDERAL, PROVINCIAL, TERRITORIAL, MUNICIPAL, OR LOCAL LAW, REGULATION, OR RULE, WILL RESULT IN SUCH ELIGIBLE ENTRANT’S DISQUALIFICATION AS WINNER OF THE PRIZE AND ALL PRIVILEGES AS WINNER WILL BE IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED WITHOUT ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER TO ADMINISTRATOR OR CONTEST SPONSOR, OR ANY RELEATED PARTIES.

Odds: The odds of winning the Prize depends on the actual number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period, provided that each entry has an equal change of being selected as a potential Prize winner.

Prize Draw: A draw for the Prizes will be made by a random selection at 202-175 Galaxy Blvd, Toronto, ON, on August 22, 2024 from all eligible entries properly received during the Contest Period (the “Prize Draw”). The winners will be contacted by email or telephone by the Contest Sponsor or their representative.  If the Contest Sponsor is unable to get in touch with and get a personal response from the selected Eligible Entrant within two (2) business days of the Prize Draw or if, within that same period, the Contest Sponsor or their representative is unable to proceed to administer the required skill testing question described above, then another Eligible Entrant will be randomly selected for the opportunity to win the Prize and the initial selected Eligible Entrant will be disqualified, his/her right to the Prize will be forfeited, and that selected Eligible Entrant will have no further recourse towards Contest Sponsor or anyone else involved in the Contest. The winner and their guest must be 18 years and older, and they both must sign and return a Declaration of Release to receive their prize. Only one prize per person, household, email address and/or username will be allowed in any year. In addition to the above timeframe, and as described further above, in the event that the selected tentative winner does not return the Contest Sponsor’s Declaration and Release form within two (2) business days of it being sent by the Contest Sponsor and/or Administrator, the Eligible Entrant shall be disqualified and their selection shall be null and void. Any failure by Contest Sponsor and/or Administrator to receive any such returned Declaration and Release form, for any reason, will in no way result in any liability to such parties.

Rights Granted by Eligible Entrant: By entering, Eligible Entrant agrees that Contest Sponsor, Petro Canada, Administrator, and anyone acting on behalf of Contest Sponsor, or their respective agents, representatives, successors, and assigns will have the right, where permitted by law, without any further compensation, notice, review, or consent, to print, publish, broadcast, distribute, and use, worldwide in any media now known or hereafter in perpetuity and throughout the World, Eligible Entrant’s entry, including, without limitation, the entry and winner’s name, portrait, picture, voice, likeness, image, entry and statements about the Contest, and biographical information as news, publicity or information and for trade, advertising, public relations and promotional purposes without any further compensation. Upon submission of the entry, the Eligible Entrant grants the Contest Sponsor a licence in perpetuity to use the content of such entry in any manner whatsoever without compensation of any kind.

Terms: Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend the Contest should (in its sole discretion) a civil, environmental, or public health emergency, non-authorized human or electronic intervention, fraud or other causes beyond its control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Contest, subject, in Quebec, to the approval of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Québec. More particularly, if severe weather or wildfires will put any Prize winners at risk, the Prize may be cancelled, postponed, or relocated. Contest Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual without notice who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or website or violates these Official Rules. 

Any attempt by an Eligible Entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, and Contest Sponsorreserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of Liability: By entering this Contest, Eligible Entrant agrees to release and hold Contest Sponsor, Petro Canada, Administrator and their employees, officers, directors, shareholders, agents, representatives, parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion and fulfillment agencies, and legal advisors (collectively, the “Released Parties”), harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind (including legal fees) arising out of or in connection with the Contest or the acceptance, use, or misuse of any Prize, including without limitation, personal injury, death and property damage, and claims based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy.  Released Parties are not responsible for errors or difficulties of any kind whether human, mechanical, technical, electronic, computer, network, typographical, or otherwise relating to or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, errors or difficulties which may occur in connection with the administration of the Contest, the processing of entries, the announcement of the Prizes, or in any Contest-related materials. The Administrator and the Contest Sponsor provide no warranties whatsoever as to the quality or condition of the Prizes.

Disputes: To the extent permitted by applicable law, all issues, questions and disputes concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of the Official Rules or the rights and obligations as between the entrant and the Contest Sponsor in connection with the Contest shall be governed by and construed and adjudicated in accordance with the laws of the province of Ontario without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules or provisions that would cause the application of any other jurisdiction’s laws. For Quebec residents: any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux du Quebec for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.  Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances will Eligible Entrant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to claim punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, other than Eligible Entrant ‘s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering this Contest), and Eligible Entrant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.

If a paragraph of these Official Rules is declared illegal, non-executable or null by a competent court, then this paragraph will be considered void, but all unaffected paragraphs will be applied within the limits of the law.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, in case of any discrepancy between the French and English versions of these Official Rules, the English version shall prevail.
